28 Card Game

The 28 card game is related to the European family of Jass games and is believed to have originated in the Netherlands. It is likely that the game was brought to the Indian subcontinent via South Africa by Asians who were influenced by the Afrikaans game of Klawerjas. The game is played with a standard 52-card pack, with eight cards present in each of the usual "French" suits - hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The cards in each suit rank in descending order: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The cumulative scores of the two teams are recorded on a piece of paper, and the number of game points scored depends on the bid like in the 28 card game.
